New Mom Secret: My Baby Sleeps on Her Tummy

It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets (PM me)—we'll never tell.

This Week's Secret:

I am well aware of the Back to Sleep campaign and that babies need to sleep on their backs in order to avoid death by SIDS. But my 4-month-old screams and screams unless I let her sleep on her stomach. At first I fought it and stayed up all night. But now I give in and we're all much happier. Still I feel nervous and I don't want anyone to know. At daycare they still insist on the back and she screams. I feel bad, but I am not giving up sleep so I can fight her on this. -- Anonymous

I was never in this position so I really don't have any idea what it's like. I bet your pediatrician would tell you to keep fighting her, but maybe you have a sympathetic pediatrician who can help you more.

Also, I bet other moms who have been through this would be good resources. I'm sure you're not alone.

Do you have any advice for this mom?
