Are you sitting down? I just don't want you to keel over from shock when you read this post, because I'm going to talk about how much I LIKE the latest celeb baby name! Yup, Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have announced the name of their newborn son (he arrived on July 9th) and it's adorable: Bingham "Bing" Hawn Bellamy.
The first reason why I think this name is cute as all get-out is because it's ever-so meaningful.
"Bingham" is Matt's mother's maiden name, and "Bing" also happens to be the name of Kurt Russell's dad. (Hawn, obviously, is a nod to Kate's mom Goldie.) I've always admired people who find cool ways to work family legacies into their kids' names, especially when it's not knock-you-down obvious, like naming every one of your 800 children George Foreman (perhaps I exaggerate). I kind of wish I'd done the same with my kids, but, I don't know, we don't have any fun, kicky names like "Bingham" hanging from our family tree.
Plus, "Bing" is just such a neat little unexpected throwback: The last time there was a famous "Bing" on the scene, it was the 1930's. That goes way beyond retro. (Next celeb baby: "Astaire")
I think the thing I love most about the name "Bing" is that it pretty much guarantees this kid is going to grow up to be a kicky free-spirit like his mom, with a megawatt smile and lust for life.
How could anyone named Bing be a bummer?
Do you like Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy's baby name?

I love it!! Very cool name.
I love it too! It's different but not TOO out there. Plus it kind of reminds me of Chandler Bing, who is my all-time favorite TV character.
Chandler Bing "BING!!!!!" is what it reminds me of. But I do like that it is meaningful to them.... although I have to say that Maria Carey's twins were meaningful names--Moroccan is the name of the suite Nick proposed to Maria in, but we all hated that name....
Not a huge fan... but to each their own. It is their child and the only thing that matters is that they love the name.
I don't like the name at all, sory!
Nope, don't like it.
I'm not sure if I like surnames as names or not. But at the end of the day, what the heck difference does it make whether I do or don't! Bing is cool (and I am a closet name snob)
