New Mom Secret: I Don't Dress My Baby

Sasha Brown-Worsham

It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets (PM me)—we'll never tell.

This Week's Secret:

My daughter is 4-months-old now and I have yet to actually put her in an outfit. The pajamas and the "real" clothing all kind of look alike and it has been easier to keep her in what she sleeps in. On good days, she will not change outfits at all the whole day. Everyone keeps saying how awesome it is we had a girl, but I am letting all those cute outfits go to waste. When we go in public I always tell people it is the first time I did this, but yeah. It's not. Is this terrible? — Anonymous

This is NOT terrible at all! It is practical! Those cute outfits are cute, but if you do not enjoy putting them on her, there is nothing "cute" about them.

You are making your life easier and that is what motherhood is all about. I will confess my own secret: I did the same thing. And when my son was born in August, he lived in only a diaper until he was about 8 weeks old. Go with it. Love it. It won't last forever.

Do you have any advice for this mom?
