Mariah Carey Twins' Names Make Me Go MMMMM?
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have finally found a way to distract us all from those really embarrassing nude pregnancy photos that are circulating by choosing some really strange names for dembaby twins.
The boy: Moroccan Scott
The girl: Monroe Cannon
All I can say is ... thank you. Thank you, Mariah and Nick, from the bottom of my heart. Because with all this dire and heavy Osama stuff going around, we all really need a good laugh. (And no fair getting all sanctimonious mommy on me either. I'm under baby name attack, too, since finding out my kid's name is on the Most Hated Baby Name List. And you know they picked these whackadoodle names knowing we'd talk about them endlessly, that was the whole purpose!)
The first chuckle comes from the Official Mariah Carey News page, where the big name announcement was made. Honestly the girl name isn't horrible as far as manly, violent names of unstable starlets who meet tragic ends go. But to name a kid after a room in your house? (And to actually name a room in your house?) I'm sorry I don't care how special that room is ...
Their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon. Scott is Nick’s middle name, as well as his grandmother’s maiden name.
The top tier of Mariah’s New York City apartment is called the Moroccan Room, because of the Moroccan-inspired decor. It’s also the place where Nick proposed to his wife, overlooking Manhattan!
Their daughter’s name is Monroe Cannon. Mariah's rep says she does not have a middle name because Mariah herself does not have one. Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life.
The second outright LOL comes courtesy of some of my favorite Twitter reactions to the names. Check it:
"Fitting that the word 'moron' is already hidden in each name."
"Well that's another ridiculous baby name to add to the list of names I wouldn't even name my dog, Moroccan, really?"

I love Monroe. I love Mariah, but Moroccan??? I looked at the screen when I first saw that name with my head tilted to the side like a dog watching a human do something puzzeling.

I like their names, and I like that each name means something to the parents. I've been criticized for my daughter's name, people telling me it's too weird but I don't really care what they think. It means a lot to me and my partner. And seriously though, who calls Marilyn Monroe "manly"? You guys seriously need to leave the woman alone. I'm almost positive this post is a joke, at least I hope so, but it's still rude. They didn't pick those names to make you laugh or to gain publicity, they picked them because they love those names. Instead of mocking everything from her pregnancy, to her birth, the the names they picked, why don't you just congratulate them on their new blessings. They're happy, loving parents to two new babies, and if that's not something to celebrate well I don't know what is.

I think Monroe is fine, but Moroccan not so much (though there are MUCH worse celeb baby names IMO).
