Sleep-deprived new parents aren't often the most jovial bunch. After all, there is not much fun (or funny) about getting one hour a night of sleep for weeks on end. New moms (and dads) have been known to lock their keys in the car (like me), forget where they parked, and unintentionally leave toilet seat down while attempting to pee.
Sleep deprivation does funny things to the mind. And now one dad -- novelist and dad Adam Mansbach -- has made it all funny with his very ADULT "children's book" he calls Go the F@#k to Sleep. Now obviously, this isn't a story for little ears, but the book has gems like:
The cats nestle close to their kittens. The lambs have laid down with the sheep. You're cozy and warm in your bed, my dear. Please go the f@#k to sleep.
What new parent does NOT need this book to add some levity to a seemingly hopeless situation? Oh we all know the sleep deprivation passes and it's well worth it in the long run (oh and also, there are much harder things ahead with your kids than sleep deprivation), but in the moment, this book could help revive a parent from wanting to throw the baby out with the bathwater (literally).
Never fear! You aren't alone! Countless parents before you have survived -- and even thrived -- even while sleep-deprived.
This book may just be the perfect shower gift.

This is awesome. I'll probably buy it :)
I just hope parent's don't read it to their kids (and I'm sure there are some out there who would)
hahahaha this is hilarious... i looooove it
Heck yes - I`ve got a baby shower this weekend, and I`m going to look for it before I go!
Funny! I don't know that it's appropriate for everyone's baby shower but I know quite a few who would find it amuzing. Incidentally, one of my favorite baby shower gifts was the books "Everyone Poops" and The Gas We Pass" and a big case of diapers. Hilarious!
lol I JUST found my best friends baby shower gift!!
brilliant!
Hilarious! 2 of my kids (6 1/2 and 8 yr. old) STILL give me problems EVERY night because they won't go to sleep so it's not just new parents that could get a well-deserved laugh from this book.I would SO read this!(but not to the kids of course, however tempting it may be, LOL)
