As Carla Hall would say, "Hootie-hoo!" Top Chef star and celebrity chef Tom Colicchio and his wife are celebrating a fantastic new arrival -- and it's not the winner of Top Chef: All-Stars! They welcomed son Mateo Lev Colicchio to the world. Mom Lori Silverbush and baby Mateo are doing fine, which is just what we like to hear.
Again, continuing the celeb trend of tweeting baby news, Tom sent a simple "Mateo Lev Colicchio Born today at 12:11pm 7.9 lbs" on Tuesday to announce it to the world. If you're gonna tweet big news, this was a classy tweet, I must say.
I love Tom. He's one of my favorite reality TV hosts -- right up there with Cat Deeley of So You Think You Can Dance and The Probst over on Survivor. As a judge, he's tough, but he's fair. He calls it like it is.
So, inquiring minds want to know -- does a wife of a famous chef eat icky hospital food?
Apparently she does not have to suffer like the rest of us. The chef's people told People that the chef de cuisine of Craft, one of Tom's restaurants, is sending yummy meals to the family.
Mateo brings the son count to 3 for Tom, joining big bro Luka Bodhi, 19 months, and bigger bro Dante, 17, who is Tom's son from a previous relationship. Along with his bros, Mateo will have a built-in playmate with Krishna, fellow Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi's 13-month-old daughter.
As we always do, let's discuss the name. I'm digging Mateo. Not common, but not wacko. Definitely works with the last name and coordinates with his brothers' names. Yup, it got three out of three "thumbs up" in my unofficial poll (my daughter and my husband were the other two voters).
Congrats to Tom and Lori and the whole Colicchio clan!
