IKEA Crib RecallDid you buy your baby's crib from IKEA? If so, take a few seconds (like right now) and check it over. The massive retail chain issued a recall for their SNIGLAR cribs in the U.S. and Canada. They say the bolts provided with about 26,000 of those cribs that are used to secure the mattress support are not long enough. That means the mattress could collapse and possibly trap and suffocate little ones. 

If you bought a crib from IKEA, don't freak. We've got the 411 you need to know ...

Here's the scoop:

1. The IKEA cribs involved are the SNIGLAR non-drop side, full-size cribs with model number 60091931. Find and read the mattress support label, which should have the name and number on it.

2. The cribs were sold from October 2005 through June 2010 for about $80 each and are made of natural/light-colored wood.

3. No injuries have been reported (whew!).

4. You need to check your crib. Look at the bolts. If you can see the end of it, if it is sticking through the nut far enough to see it, then your crib is fine and not part of the recall (check out the handy picture below). If you can't see the end of the screw by at least two full groove-things (also known as threads), you need to call IKEA and they will send you a replacement part.

5. Call IKEA at 1-888-966-4532 or visit ikea-usa.com.

6. If your crib is part of the recall, do not have your child sleep in the crib. Find a different, safe place for naps and bedtime (perfect time to have an "indoor camp out" in the living room, huh?).
