Awww, what a lovely sight for sore eyes -- Christina Applegate and her new baby daughter Sadie Grace appear on the cover of People magazine. So beautiful!
Christina's motherhood story is just like many of our new mom stories -- full of love, hope, excitement, and newness; however, most of us are not also breast cancer survivors when we experience parenthood for the first time. Christina's life took a scary turn back in 2008 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This happy ending adds an extra-special sweetness to her baby story.
Do you remember what you thought the first time you held your child in your arms? Well, Christina Applegate has some lovely things to say about her experience holding Sadie for the first time in the hospital and about their first few weeks together at home (Sadie was born September 27).
Here's what Christina Applegate had to share in People about Sadie and new motherhood:
I felt my heart literally open up for the first time and like wrap itself around her. It was profound. And I'm more in love with her every minute of the day.
I've had to talk about that word [cancer] more than I've ever had to talk about a word in my life. After a while you're like, 'There's got to be something else to me.'
... now I'm Mom. She's healed me in so many ways. She's just made my life so much better. She's opened my whole soul.
Oh, that a precious baby can help heal some of the deepest wounds on our souls is such a gift. I am so happy for Christina and her fiance Martyn LeNoble.
Are you in or do you remember the first months of motherhood and how you felt?
