'Teen Mom 2' Recap: Baby Daddy Drama Never Gets Old

The Teen Mom 2 premiere episode promised more of some of the things we have come to love/hate about MTV's Teen Mom -- baby daddy drama, struggles with families of origin, financial issues -- and some new issues, too.

The four new moms were all former stars of 16 and Pregnant. Leah is the mom of twins (yikes!), Jenelle has a daughter son and lives with her mother, Chelsea has a daughter and lives with a friend (her father pays the rent), and Kailyn has a son and lives with her ex-boyfriend's parents.

Some moments on the show were more hopeful than past Teen Moms. Leah graduated from high school and it seemed like all the girls were on track to do the same. But some moments were worse -- Jenelle and her mother are almost as bad as Farrah and her mom, complete with domestic violence and threats of cops.

But oh, the baby daddy drama made up the largest portion of the episode, natch.

Only one dad seems to have any meaningful relationship with the children and that's Corey, Leah's ex-boyfriend, who is struggling after Leah cheated on him. Still, the fact that he actually comes over to see his children makes him father of the year in this world.

It definitely seems like we are being set up to see more of their relationship, and I have to say I'm pulling for them. They seem like the only "couple" on this show that even has a fighting chance of raising their children together.

Chelsea's baby daddy is out of the picture, but her own dad is like Dad of the Year up in here. He pays for her apartment, keeps a close eye on her relationships and friendships, and talks to her about the emotional stuff and everything else. Everyone should have a dad like him! She also has like the world's best friend. Can Megan move in with me and babysit whenever I want, too? Things are looking up for Chelsea.

Sadly, Kailyn and Jenelle are not so lucky. Kailyn's own mother won't let her move in so she is stuck with her ex-boyfriend's parents, and it looks like she is about to start hooking up with a new guy at work. I swear teen moms with infants manage to find men easier than professional women in their 30s I know who live in major cities full of eligible guys. What is the secret?

Jenelle's baby daddy is nowhere to be found (apparently he is modeling in China? Um, OK). But there is plenty o' drama to make up for that absence. The fight she and her mother had? Whoa, Nellie. If I ever have a daughter who speaks to me like that ... let's just say I would be wishing for a reset button on her.

And judging from some of the upcoming scenes, her mother ought to be wanting that, too. She seems like she may end up winning the Most Effed Up Teen Mom Award, beating out even Amber Portwood.

Here's hoping...

What did you think of the first episode?

Why are we glorifying this kind of behavior?

None of this is being glorified.  It's real stories being told.  Showing that unlike on the Secret of an American Teenager show things don't always work themselves out to be perfect in the end.  That having a baby isn't going to fix anything, it can trap you with an abusive or controling partner, make it hard to have a life and a job and pay the bills ect. . .

It was awful, Jenelle is the worst mother I have ever seen!  She kept asking why cant I change Jace's diaper and why cant I dress him BECAUSE YOUR NEVER AROUND!  The shirt she put him in was 4x too big and he could have suffocated!  And to top it off when she left, what mother in their right mind just leaves her son?!  No matter what if im leaving my child is coming too!

People need to realize that only is it hard to be a teen mother , but also a single teem mother ...cut the girl a break....ya she needs to grow up and take a few parenting classes but she is young and it's hard enough being a teen and having a baby on top of it ? I would have cussed my mom out to if i was her age and my mom tried to get custody of my child .....maybe if her mom would have talked it out with her and warned her before hand things would have been different ....people make mistakes and no matter how old you are first time mothers make a lot of them....she can only learn from there

@ Sammantha, with all due respect, I was a teen mother and while I did fight with my parents (who were and are the most AMAZING parents a girl could ask for), and wanted to go out and allow my mom to babysit more than I should have (a decision I will regret for the rest of my life), I can say I've been in Jenelle's shoes and there is NO excuse for her behavior. Is being a single mom doubley hard when you're a teen? Absolutely. Is that an excuse to neglect, mistreat, and literally "dump" your baby on someone else, while at the same time acting in a way that can only be called abusive towards your own mother? NO NO NOOOOOO.

This is not about her "learning" or making the "same mistakes" as everyone other first time mom, she is outright ABUSIVE and NEGLECTFUL, willfully behaving in a manner that puts her sons life in DANGER. Even , I was up the next morning with him, as SOONat her age, you are old enough to know the difference between right and wrong. If a person of her age stole a car, beat another girl up at school, we would hold them accountable, believing they knew it was WRONG but I am supposed to believe her behavior now is excusable because its "just so hard" to be a teen mom? BULL%$#@!!

After watching that last episode I thought it wad messed up bout the custody battle but there are consequences for actions. Its such a shame how many young girls are jus popping out kids and moving on to the next dude like its nothing. Nobody's perfect, in fact I jus had a baby but me and her daddy are together. Basically its jus sad that everyone thinks its coo to have kids. Kids raising kids. Wut values are being taught to these innocent kiddos. Wut is the world coming to, where r our values
