When Drew Brees was looking for a name for his second son earlier this month, he took to Twitter to get input from his followers:
My wife is due any day now with baby boy #2. We have a few names picked out but haven’t decided yet. Looking for “b” names. Suggestions? #fb 2:11 PM Oct 8th via web
We are looking for boy names starting with a “b” that are uncommon. Not in most baby name books. Thanks to all for any ideas #fb
More than 6,000 suggestions were tweeted back to Brees.
Among the many: Bryson, Breidon, Baustin, Bryce, Brylei, Bode, Boyler, Bentley, Biker, Bilson, Barlow, Barnett, Bastian, Blaine, Blaxton, Blaze, Bolton, Braxton, Brice ... and on and on.
Anyone in search of a "b" name for the rest of eternity need only scan Drew's Twitter feed.
Only a few people suggested the name Brees and his wife chose in the end, which is ... Bowen.
Bowen Christopher Brees joins older brother Baylen.
What do you think?
I think it's cute. Beau was on my name list in my second pregnancy, but I had a girl. Bowen's a nice unique twist, and Bowen Brees ... well, it sounds like a football player's name.
Brees didn't say if it was a tweet that helped them select the name or not, but he did thank all those who played.
Thanks to everyone once again for the baby recommendations. There were some really good ones. A lot of thought went in to that decision #fb
Now the question is if Drew will be able to manage another super bowl win to give Bowen a moment like big brother Baylen got when daddy famously held him up after New Orleans won it earlier this year.
What do you think of the name Bowen?
