Lance Armstrong's fifth child, his second with girlfriend Anna Hansen, arrived today. The couple named their new daughter Olivia Marie Armstrong.
Congratulations to Lance!
"Olivia Marie Armstrong has arrived!" Armstrong tweeted this morning.
Back in April, Armstrong made headlines for creating a Twitter account for his unborn daughter, so his method of spreading the news of her birth isn't surprising.
"I'm 'bout ready to get outta here!" the newborn has already "tweeted."
The incredibly talented cyclist and champion has three other children with ex-wife Kristin Richard: Luke, 11, and twins Isabelle and Grace, 8.
He broke up with Sheryl Crow in 2007, citing her "biological clock" as the reason. I wonder how she feels now?
In Lance, a book due out in July, Armstrong tells author John Wilcockson the decision to have children became an issue in their relationship: She wanted marriage, she wanted children; and not that I didn't want that, but I didn't want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I'd just had kids," he says. Yet, we're up against her biological clock -- that pressure is what cracked it.
Less than a year later and he is a dad again -- twice.
Not that Crow didn't rebound nicely herself. She adopted her son Wyatt soon after they broke up and beat breast cancer to boot. She is a strong, capable woman, but it still has to hurt to see the man who said he didn't want more kids right away go on to have two more within three years of the breakup.
Hopefully she has put all that behind her and is now secure and happy in her own decisions and can also be happy for Lance. Five babies are a lot, but the three older ones mean the athletically gifted father will have plenty of hands on deck to help him with the newbie.
Do you think it's odd that he said he didn't want more kids right away and then went on to have them?
