James Van Der Beek is even more entranced by his new daughter than Dawson Leery was by Joey Potter.
Daughter Olivia, his first child with wife Kimberly Brook, was born September 25, and Van Der Beek is one proud papa.
He's taken to Twitter to profess all his new-father fascination and joy.
"Had the blessing of becoming a father over the weekend... Couldn't come close to describing this bliss even if I had 140 million characters," he tweeted Monday.
"Olivia Van Der Beek, born 9/25. I apologize in advance for any obnoxiously precious new-dad tweets that may follow. I'm under her spell..."
A few hours later he tweeted about his hopes and dreams for her future:
"If I watch football w/ my daughter now, she'll like the sounds of the NFL & want to watch it w/ me when she's older #momdoesntthinkso"
It's so sweet to see his open excitement about his daughter, but not surprising.
Van Der Beek has been anxiously waiting for this day to finally arrive and seems like he'll be a hands-on, helpful dad.
"I couldn't be more excited," he told OK! magazine in the weeks before his daughter's birth. "I'm as prepared as I can be, although I realize I have no idea what I'm in for but I'm looking forward to all of it."
It will be interesting to see how much time he has for tweeting once those first few sleepy days of newborn life give way to sleepless nights. Hopefully he'll keep it up, because it's always interesting to see parenthood through a father's eyes -- especially one as enthusiastic about it as Van Der Beek.
It would be great to see him give us a real, honest, tweet-by-tweet look at his experiences.
And who knows, if he does so well, maybe CBS will make his feed into a new show too.
Congratulations to the family!
