Does your baby have a Dr. Praeger's addiction? Mine does, and while it makes my life significantly easier, Weelicious points out that there is a healthier and more affordable way to get veggie burgers into my baby's wide-open mouth.
I tried her Veg-Wee burgers, and my son absolutely loved them as much as the Dr. Praeger's version. Even though I wasn't loving the time commitment that went into making the veg patties, knowing exactly what my baby is putting into his mouth makes it a winning recipe for me.
Here's what you'll need for the Veg-Wee burgers:
- 1/2 cup bulgur wheat
- 1 cup water
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup carrot, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon oil
The good thing about the labor you're putting into these mini-burgers is they do freeze and re-heat really well. Next time I'm going to double the recipe so I have plenty of leftovers to keep me on a low-maintenance baby food schedule for awhile.
Would you make these veggie burgers for your baby?
