Photo from Sew Can DoFeeding a baby in a high chair is about as clean an activity as overturning a bowl of food directly on the floor. In fact, I'd advise any new parents-to-be to buy a dog. It's worth it in the long run, trust me.
If I could go back to when I was pregnant, I'd forgo buying the fancy, pretty, expensive high chair and instead get an older, used one, then re-purpose it with a laminated cotton high-chair cover, like this one I saw on Sew Can Do's CraftShare today.
Here's what you'll need if you want to make a similar high chair for your own food-flinging baby:
- 1 yard laminated cotton
- 1 yard firm batting
- 1 package double fold bias tape
- Rotary scissors
- Bobby pins
- Tissue paper
Cheryl with Sew Can Do offers some great steps to covering your high chair's seat for a similar look to the high chair she created. With really nice pictures, too!
If you can have both the pretty high chair you want with the low cost and functionality you need in a high chair, I say go for it.
But still, get that dog.
Which high chair do you have?
