Getting to know our readers' babies ...

Who: Esmeralda, daughter to Honeybun09, was born vaginally at 40 weeks and 3 days on 2/16/2009 at 1:10 a.m. weighing 6 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches!

How long does she sleep at night? She sleeps 12 to 13 hours at night AND takes two naps a day! She's always loved her sleep. :)

What makes her smile? Mommy, daddy, grandma, and the assistant at daycare! She also smiles at her sippy cups and her stuffed monkey. Oh, we can't forget that she smiles at our 3-year-old, 10-pound dog!

How did you choose her name? We found her name at We had picked out Eva Marisol for a girl before we knew she was a girl, but the day we found out she was a girl, I knew there was no way I could imagine calling what I was seeing in the ultrasound Eva! So we went back home and looked through Spanish names, as she is half Mexican. As soon as we saw Esmeralda, we knew that was the name for her! She has no middle name so she's just Esmeralda.

Any siblings? Not yet! We are planning on trying the month she turns 2. We're hoping she'll have a little brother!

What's her latest milestone? She has been climbing up her play structures! She had never been interested in climbing onto things, not even our couch, until grandma got her a climbing toy with a slide.

What's her fussiest time of day? She gets fussy around dinnertime. She eats dinner around 6:00. We try to keep her up until 7:00 each night, but she gets SO tired at 6:00. We can keep her awake until 7:00 most nights but she's usually fussy until then.

What will she do for a career? At this point, I have no clue. There's not one thing she's interested in more than the other. She does like our dog a lot though, so maybe she'll be a veterinarian! No matter what I'll support whatever career decision she thinks is the right one for her.
